First: desperately fleeing from saxophones
they come over the hill for me. they are determined.
Nothing really new to hawk, but in two weeks? Hmmm, maybe. Maybe…
I'm in the process of scheduling more episodes of I WAS A TEENAGE WEREPONY onto kindle vella. It's up to episode 15 now, and starting on Monday it'll be back to the Mon - Wed - Fri schedule until the latest batch runs out and I have to scramble to get more into the system.
First I had to do a worldbuilding fix for Frantic Showstoppers- it was set in Japan originally, but once I realized that I was putting it there strictly because I wanted to play with yokai, I decided to avoid cultural appropriation and just redo it with my own worldbuilding. Features of folklore creatures are pretty much universal so I can mix-and-match to make my own, it's just a lot more work for me.
Now that's done, the next issue has become apparent. Not going to talk about specifics because it actually qualifies as a spoiler, but REDACTED happens far too early in the story and messes with the tension, so I'm moving it and some other REDACTED to much later and having to edit out references to the REDACTED in the draft.
Ultimately all this rewriting works out well because it'll provide a stronger book in the end, but during the actual rip-and-tear process I genuinely feel like there's someone off in the distance playing the Benny Hill theme on repeat, and as I desperately try to fix every new issue that crops up the music gets closer and closer and closer. Tootle oodle oot oot.
Sort of a holdover from when Frantic Showstoppers was set in Japan, but also I really enjoy City Pop music so of course I'm going to curate my own list of favorites. It's not a strict genre list, there's old visual kei and some current (Japanese) pop hits in there too, but it keeps my head bopping as I write so whatever.
